About the product

Benini is a long-established manufacturer of Venetian glasses that Italy is proud of. It was founded in 1921 on the island of Murano in the Bay of Venice by Milanese lawyer Paolo Venini and antiquarian Giacomo Cappelin. For more than 100 years, the company has been known for its successful collaborations with many artists and architects, combining the traditional craft of hand-blown glass with modern design. All pieces are handmade in Italy, so the finish may vary slightly. Benigni's craftsmanship and sophisticated designs have received high acclaim internationally, and he has been exhibited at famous institutions around the world, including the Museum of Modern Art in New York, the Triennale Design Museum in Milan, the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, and the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris. It is owned and exhibited at the museum. Pyros comes from the Latin word meaning “fire.” As the name suggests, the master glassmaker uses a rotating rod to remove the vase from the fire, and his assistants press thin pieces of glass in various colors onto it. Its location was carefully planned by French designer Emmanuel Babret. The heat instantly melts the two pieces of glass together, leaving a circle about 10 centimeters in diameter on the surface. By repeating this process over and over again, the beautiful Pyros vase, which is one of a kind in the world, is completed. Each color is a limited edition, and each piece is marked with a serial number and production date. *This product is handmade by craftsmen on Murano Island, Venice, so each item is unique. Please note that there may be differences in color, pattern, and shape from the product images.
