Venini was founded in 1921 on the island of Murano off the coast of the Bay of Venice. We are a historical Venetian glass craft manufacturer. Items with innovative designs devised by international designers are handcrafted by craftsmen using traditional techniques. Occhi, designed by local designer Scarpa, is Benigni's signature work. It is made using the mulline method, in which cross-sections of rounded bars are cut by layering glass of various colors, and the small pieces are heated and brought together without the use of adhesives.*This product is handmade by craftsmen on Murano Island, Venice, so each item is unique. About the product

Venini is a long-established manufacturer of Venetian glass. It was founded in 1921 by Milanese natives Paolo Venini and Giacomo Cappellin on the island of Murano in the Bay of Venice. For more than a century, the company has been known worldwide for its successful collaborations with many artists and architects, combining traditional hand-blown glass techniques with modern design. Each piece is handmade by glass blowers, so the finish may vary slightly. Benigni's craftsmanship and sophisticated designs have received high praise internationally, and he has been featured in famous museums around the world, including the Museum of Modern Art in New York, the Triennale Design Museum in Milan, the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, and the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris. It is collected and exhibited at an art gallery. Occhi, designed by local designer Tobia Scarpa in 1956, is one of the company's signature products. Occhi means “eye” in Italian. As the name suggests, this vase is made up of grid-shaped glass lenses that resemble “many eyes.” It is produced using a mosaic-like method called mulline, and is a work that makes full use of traditional techniques passed down from ancient Rome to artisans on Murano Island. Glass of various colors is layered, the cross-sections of rolled glass rods are cut, and the small pieces are heated and put together without using any glue. *This product is handmade by craftsmen on Murano Island, Venice, so each item is unique. Please note that there may be differences in color, pattern, and shape from the product images.
